North Central patient among two deaths announced in Monday COVID-19 update

Two more Saskatchewan residents have died after testing positive for COVID-19, including one in North Central.

The other death came in the North West Zone. Both patients were in the 80-plus age category. The province did not release any other details about the two cases.

Health officials also reported 48 new COVID cases and 79 more recoveries. There are now 711 active cases in Saskatchewan. The Saskatoon Zone has the most with 178, followed by the Regina Zone with 151, and the North West with 76.

North Central reported 10 new cases and six more recoveries. There are now 74 active cases in the region.


Prince Albert reported three of those new cases. North Central Zone 1 reported the other seven. There are now 37 active cases in Prince Albert, 31 in Zone 1, and six in Zone 3.

The Far North West reported five new cases and three recoveries. There are now 36 active cases in the area.

The Far North East reported one new case and four more recoveries. There are now 12 active cases in the region.

Far North Central continues to have no active cases.

The North East reported no new cases and three recoveries, bringing their active case total to 16.

Saskatchewan has 76 patients in hospital with COVID-19, 11 of which are in intensive care. Two of those ICU patients are in North Central.

Health officials have reported an average of 69 new COVID cases per day over the past week. That’s the lowest total since Oct. 31, 2020.

Roughly 69 per cent of Saskatchewan residents ages 12 and older have received at least one vaccine dose.

As of Monday, 289,604 residents are fully vaccinated, including 21,788 in North Central.
