Local folk groups The Goats and One Bridge Town to bid farewell to 2016

Two local bands are joining forces to put 2016 to bed and ring in the new year.

The Goats — Wade Fehr, Josh L’Henaff, Teegan Jeffers and Ryan Spracklin — and One Bridge Town — Shayne Lazarowich, Spracklin, Joel Rohs, Gord Vaadeland, Jordy Balicki, Ian Dickson and Jeffers — are splitting the bill at the Rock Trout Café on Saturday, Dec. 31. for a New Year’s Eve show complete with Champaign at midnight. The entertainment will start at 9 p.m., with both groups taking turns at the mic until 1 a.m.

Goats fiddler Spracklin said there might even be a performance of the New Year’s anthem, Auld Lang Syne.

“You never know,” he said.

“Its been chatted about. It’s definitely a classic. It’d be kind of weird to be a band playing New Year’s and not actually (play) Auld Lang Syne.”

The concert will be familiar territory for Spracklin. His band performed at a New Year’s Eve wedding party last year hosted at what was then a newly opened Rock Trout Café.
