P.A. Minor Hockey ends its season with Championship Weekend at Kinsmen Arena
The Prince Albert Minor Hockey Association (PAMHA) is wrapping up its season on Saturday and Sunday at the Kinsmen Area with its annual Championship Weekend.
“The rink will be packed. If you’re not there early on Saturday or Sunday, you’re not parking within three blocks of the rink,” PAMHA technical director James Mays said.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s the Peewee 2 or the Bantams, the atom 3’s, their parents and grandparents get just as excited and they have just as much fun. It’s turned out to be really good for us.”
Twelve Atom, Peewee and Bantam teams qualified for the Champion Weekend. The divisional finalists compete in a two-match playoffs, with the highest combined score determining the winner. Mays said last year three of the six Game 2 matches went to overtime.
This year the AtoMC Gladiators face Humbolt in the Atom 1 final, the AtoMC Ice Hawks take on the AtoMC Cobras in the Atom 2 playoff and the AtoMC Warriors battle the AtoMC Flyers for the Atom 3 title.
Gene’s Stars are up against Shellbrook in the Peewee 2 matchup while Gene’s Canadians take on Gene’s Rangers in the Peewee 3 final.
Fighting for the Bantam crown are the Lite Way Cyclones and the Lite Way Lightning.
