Mont St. Joseph to host 25th Annual Grandparents Day Walk

Michael Oleksyn/Daily Herald Wayne Nogier, CEO of Mont St. Joseph Home greets people as they take off on the Stroll-a-Thon around the grounds for Grandparent's Day on Sunday.

Mont St Joseph Foundation will be holding its 25th Annual Grandparents day on Sept. 8 at the Prime Ministers Park (across the road from the Home’s front drive way).

The event will start by 2:30 p.m., and organizers hope to see a good turnout.

“It’s a great way to celebrate the importance that our Elders play in our personal lives, communities and our families,” said Jessica Gale, the Director of Foundation Development for the Mont. St. Joseph Home Foundation. “We have made this day one of our Mont St. Joseph Foundation’s favorite days for 24 years and counting.”

The event will start with the Ball Drop Raffle, followed by a family stroll around the building, live entertainment, fun and games for the kids of all ages and a free family Barbecue to wrap up the event.

“All the funds raised will be use for new and upgraded medical equipment, furnishings and programs for our 120 special care residents who call Mont St. Joseph home,” said Gale “It will be a great day for all the families and the Home.”

Anybody that wants to get involved can grab a Pledge Sheet from the Foundation’s office and start collecting pledges for your Stroll-a-thon around the Home, donate online, join other participants for all the fun and games at the event, adopt a grandparent to help make sure everyone is apart of the festivities.

“This fundraiser is so much more than the financial support that it contributes to making Mont St Joseph Home different,” Gale said. “It is about our family, friends and local community members collaborating to create the amazing ambiance and what truly makes our long term care home feel like a family and a home for our 120 residents and their families.”
