Inmate who escaped minimum security facility apprehended by RCMP

A 30-year-old inmate who escaped from a minimum security Section 81 facility operated by the Prince Albert Grand Council has been apprehended.

Staff members discovered Dalton Checkosis was missing at around 6:10 a.m. on Sept. 2 and immediately notified the Prince Albert RCMP, who apprehended him at around 9 a.m. on Sept. 3.

The Correctional Service of Canada and PAGC are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Checkosis’ escape.

Checkosis is serving a nearly six-year sentence for robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.
