Police are still investigating an early morning shooting at a house that neighbours say is a trouble spot

A house on the 700 block of 12th Street West was shot up early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to the shooting at 6:45 a.m. They did not make any arrests. The house was occupied at the time, according to police, but no one was injured. The investigation is ongoing, and plainclothes police were later seen inspecting the house and questioning neighbours.

According to a press release, the police service does not believe the attack is “a random incident.” Police media liaison Sgt. Travis Willie told the Daily Herald that the force has dealt with the residence before.

In fact, the house was the site of a SWAT team operation last month following a home invasion down the street. Police did not charge the residents in connection with that incident, however.

A neighbour told the Daily Herald that she has often seen suspicious behaviour around the house in the past, including individuals wearing black bandanas coming in and out. On Wednesday morning, she was woken up by the sound of gunshots and then heard a car speed away seconds later.

Her roommate said the house is a frequent trouble spot and makes her worried for her children. She said it’s the second time in two weeks that they’ve heard gunshots in the vicinity of the house.
