Prince Albert’s conservative MP intends to run in the upcoming 2019 federal election, and he says he’s ready to take Trudeau’s Liberals down.
Randy Hoback’s comments came during an exclusive one-on-one interview with the Daily Herald during Saskatchewan Party Leadership candidate Scott Moe’s campaign event Friday night.
Hoback’s confirmation that he plans to run in 2019 follows a similar declaration made by Moose Jaw MP Tom Lukiwski, as reported by the Moose Jaw Times-Herald on November 3.
“Yes, I’m in the next election,” Hoback said, when asked if he was also running again.
“I want to be sitting there with (leader) Andrew Scheer as we take down this Liberal Government and try to fix all the mistakes they made.”
Hoback is in the area this week to meet with constituents. He has a number of town halls planned to discuss federal tax changes.
“We’re doing a combination of meetings across the riding, starting off in Shellbrook. We’re doing a meeting here in Prince Albert and then we’re also doing one in Kinistino and Tisdale. We’re bringing in farmers for the rural ones to give them an idea of what the impacts are going to be on their operations,” Hoback said.
“In Prince Albert, we’ll be talking to the business community about the proposed changes, and what it could possibly mean for their businesses, how it will affect their retirement plans or how they manage their business affairs. We’re just trying to get that information out so people can make educated decisions and understand how bad this is coming down the pipe.”
Hoback’s Prince Albert event is today over the lunch hour. He’s the keynote speaker at a Chamber of Commerce event at Par Place on the Shellbrook Highway.
Tomorrow, he’s hosting a town hall in Shellbrook at the Elks Hall from 10 a.m. until noon. Thursday, he’s at the Kinistino Legion and Friday he’ll be at the Tisdale Civic Centre.

While Hoback is planning to discuss the Liberal’s tax changes, he is also hoping people bring other federal concerns to the meetings.
“It’s not just a one-way conversation,” Hoback said. “We’re there to listen and take their input back to Ottawa. There may be other issues we’re not aware of. I definitely want to know about that and take those concerns back to Ottawa to get them addressed as best we can.”
While he’s in the constituency, Hoback will also meet with municipal leaders and MLAs to hear their concerns about the federal Liberal government.
