Two people are in custody following a drugs and weapons seizure in Weirdale, Sask.
The Prince Albert Integrated Street Enforcement Team (ISET) executed a search warrant at a residence in the village on March 22.
As a result of the search, guns, an undisclosed amount of cash and a significant amount of drugs were seized. Two adults were taken into custody.
The drugs included substances believed to be Gamma-Hydroxybutyric Acid (GHB), morphine capsules and marijuana. GHB is a psychoactive drug often known by street names such as G, Liquid G, Liquid X or Liquid E. It’s used, recreationally, in small doses as a party drug similar to ecstasy. In larger doses it can be used as a date rape drug.
As a result of the search and subsequent arrests, 41-year old Michael Fremont and 27-year-old Lynsey Nilghe, both of Weirdale, are facing six criminal charges each:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking GHB, Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Morphine, Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Section 355(b) of the Criminal Code
- Careless Storage of a Firearm, Section 86(1) of the Criminal Code
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88 of the Criminal Code
- Possession of a prohibited firearm, Section 92(1) of the Criminal Code
Both accused were due in court Friday.
ISET is a partnership between the RCMP and the Prince Albert Police Service with a mandate of street-level law enforcement focusing on drugs, guns and gangs.
Weirdale is located about 50 km northeast of Prince Albert.
