A Montreal-based company similar to Cirque du Soleil is bringing their stunts to the stage of the E.A. Rawlinson Centre on Tuesday night.
Cirque Éloize is touring with a show called Saloon, described as entering “a mythical world where theatre and circus collide for 85 minutes of non-stop live folk music combined with strength, agility and original choreography.”
Marketing and events coordinator for the centre, Cara Stelmaschuk, said landing such a big name in the city was a matter of luck.
“A lot of the times, when you’re trying to work with a group like this to try and put a tour together, sometimes the dates just don’t work out,” she said.
“For a bigger centre, Saskatoon can get an actual Cirque du Soleil and put it in a big enough venue.”
However, she said having a smaller centre is an advantage for this show.
“I think (it) will be really, really nice on an intimate stage the size of ours. You’re gonna be close, you’re gonna feel the death defying gravity of all the stunts that they do,” she said. “You’re never gonna be able to see a circus like this.”
Stelmaschuk added the show is quite different than the entertainment they normally provide.
“We have, as most people know, a lot of musical acts go through, but when there’s a theatrical production in the centre, it tends to be a local company, which is great…but to be able to also see the next step up and attract acts like this to our centre, it speaks well for Prince Albert.”
Cirque Éloize has been operating since 1993, taking part in international festivals like New York Broadway and London’s West End.
They’ve done more than 5500 performances in over 550 cities.
And tickets are still up for grabs.
A regular adult tickets costs $64.05 and students get them for $49.61, but groups of 10 or more get adult tickets for $43.05 and student tickets for $32.50.

“It’s got acrobats, it’s got juggling, it’s got marionette, it’s got all those fun tricks from every circus you’ve ever been to. There’s clowns, there’s the Cyr wheel, there’s a Korean plank, Chinese pole straps, so it’s more than a stage musical, that’s for sure,” said Stelmaschuk.
