Birch Hills Threshing and Family Fun Day celebrating Silver Anniversary

The Birch Hills Threshing and Family Fun Day will be celebrating their silver anniversary on Aug. 11 and promises a celebration of the heritage of Birch Hills..
The annual event is hosted by the Birch Hills and District Historical Society and the organization sees the anniversary as significant.
“This Silver Anniversary is special and its wonderful because we have done this for more than 25 years but we had two years where we couldn’t do anything because of COVID-19. It is an important part of our life to be able to do this. It’s very rewarding for the people who are involved in organizing this.” said Duane Mohn, President of the Birch Hills and District Historical Society.
“This is an opportunity to do a summer event for the town and to celebrate our heritage as a community. We have a long history of agriculture and our museum, so we had decided decades ago that we will celebrate that by holding an event to bring the community together and recognize our heritage where we come from and celebrate some of the things that have happened in the past,” Mohn said. “It is the chance to reflect on who we are, where we came from and what the future looks like.”
Part of the activities to mark the 2024 celebration will be a pancake breakfast in the Museum basement from 7:30a.m. to 9:30a.m., the Ecumenical Worship and the high point of the day will be a parade at noon showcasing antique and collectible cars, trucks and motorcycles, farm equipment, along with other organizations from Birch Hills. The vehicles will be on display on McCallum Avenue in front of the school for viewing by the attendees.

To make the 25th Anniversary unique, a photo contest with many categories, that were not part of last year’s event, have been added to the list of activities. The contest categories incclude animals/livestock,around the world, local; landscape and inspiring faces. The submission for the contest was August 7 and open to 17 and above.
“We invite people from all of the surrounding communities to come to the event. We are delighted to have them and we can promise them a very full day, the museum will be open all day and there will be something for everybody irrespective of the age,” he added
