A new painting by a Prince Albert mother-daughter duo will hang in the Rose Garden Hospice thanks to a generous donation.
Kelly and Susan Timmerman have donated a commissioned painting to the Hospice in Prince Albert by the mother-daughter team of Wilna and Tia Furstenberg. They presented the painting on Friday, Sept. 6 in a ceremony attended by members of the Rose Garden Hospice Board of Directors and staff.
“We deeply appreciate when our community gets involved in raising awareness for the Rose Garden,” said Wayne Nogier, Chair of the hospices’ Board of Directors. “Collaborations like this art project are meaningful to those involved and to everyone who benefits from this incredible facility. We are profoundly thankful to Kelly Timmerman and his family for this generous donation.”
Kelly Timmerman won the Furstenbergs’ “live” painting during an auction at a Rotary Club Fundraiser in Nov. 2023, which he then donated to Mont St. Joseph Home. He then quickly commissioned the duo to create another work specifically for the Rose Garden Hospice.
Wilna said they both jumped at the opportunity.
“If our art can bring even a little bit of happiness or relief, Tia and I are honoured to contribute,” she said. “The painting is meant to evoke the experience of looking out a window into a rose garden, with bold brush strokes and saturated colours to inspire warmth and peace.
“Its the best feeling in the world. Its really a good feeling. Its a special feeling being able to do this with my daughter, Tia.”
Wilna said they have more collaborations planned for the future. They have also been invited back to another Rotary Club fundraiser to Live Paint again.
