A 23-year-old has been arrested after colliding with an ambulance responding to a call on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation.

On January 1 at about 3:15 p.m., Ahtahkakoop RCMP were called to a collision involving and ambulance and a personal vehicle on the Debden grid road, about 6 km north of Highway 790 on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation.

The Big River EMS ambulance was travelling south, en route to an unrelated call, when it was hit head-on by a personal vehicle. Neither of the paramedics were injured. The driver and passenger of the personal vehicle were both taken to a nearby hospital with non-serious injuries, and have since been released.

The driver allegedly showed signs of being impaired at the scene and was taken into police custody upon his release from the hospital.

Bradley Jamie Isbister of Ahtahkakoop has been charged with impaired driving and exceeding a blood alcohol content of 0.08 within two hours of driving.

The 23-year-old will appear in Ahtahkakoop court on Feburary 11. The investigation is ongoing
