Weapons charges after suspected drunk driving stop in Kinistino

A suspected drunk driver in Kinistino led to a number of weapons-related charges for Melfort RCMP.

According to RCMP On Aug. 2 at about 9:00 am, the Melfort RCMP received a report of a parked vehicle in Kinistino and the occupants of it were drinking.   

Police made a patrol for this vehicle and located it in Kinistino and conducted a traffic stop.  The driver did not stop for police immediately but complied with police a short time later.  The police investigation resulted in the arrest of the male driver and the seizure of prohibited firearms and weapons from inside the vehicle. 

Creedon Dipaolo of James Smith Cree Nation is facing numerous criminal charges including impaired driving, assault and five firearms/weapons related charges.   

Dipolo is required to appear in Melfort Provincial Court on Oct. 7, to speak to the charges. 

The Melfort RCMP was thankful for the public’s assistance in this case. 

“The Melfort RCMP would like to thank the public for alerting the police to this vehicle because without their help, it may have gone undetected.  Police and public cooperation is crucial to ensuring the safety of residents,” the release said.
