Treena McAlpine excited to take over as Lakeland reeve

The newly elected councillors and Reeve in the District of Lakeland have pledged to hit the ground running for a change in the next four years.
Treena McAlpine was overwhelming elected during the election on Saturday, July 27.
“l am beyond excited with the victory to have the great team been elected in the last Saturday’s polls and happy to be at table with the five other elected officers to run the affairs of District of Lakeland for the next four years,” Treena McAlpine said.
McAlpine said that she is a strong advocate for ratepayers’ concerns.
“First of all listening to the voters and having to face the challenges,the lake water quality, crime and community policing, some of our roads and drainages and, of course, taxation are some of the challenges we must overcome,” McAlpine said.
The elected officers who will be officially sworn-in immediately after the council meeting on August 14 have promised to hit the ground running from day one of their swearing in are set to start creating a four year plan from day one.
The total votes of District of Lakeland #521 2024 Council election with McAlpine was elected Reeve with 700 votes, incumbent Walter Plessl with 105 votes and Renee Reiner-Holmer with 134.
In Division one: Brent Hopkins-12 votes, Daniel Yungwirth 42 votes, Don Shkopich won with 132, Division Two: Cheryl Bauer-Hyde 64,Cheryl MacMillan won with 109 votes. In Division three, Doug Oftedal got 64 votes ,John Stauffer, 139 and George Villeneuve with 59.
Mary Sawchuk won with 114 ahead of David Olesko with 108 . Stuart McDowell received 68 votes to defeat ahead of James Rudolph with five votes.
“As far as I am concerned running the District of Lakeland should be treated like you are running a business and that’s how l want to look at it because elections should be on facts and conversations, not Facebook misinformation,” McAlpine said.
“lt has always been my belief that if you don’t have a roadmap to your defined goals, you will simply never get there, so l want to thank you all for giving me your vote at last week’s polls,l have met many incredible people since the beginning of my campaign in April and have very much appreciated hearing everyone’s perspective. As Reeve, l will lead my fellow councilors in developing a powerful strategic plan to guide us over the next four years that will benefit our entire community,” said McAlpine.
