Provincial fire ban lifted by SPSA

The Saskatchewan’s Public Safety Agency has lifted the Provincial fire ban.
Due to recent rainfall and cooler weather, the fire ban they rescinded effective at noon on July 26.

The fire ban is lifted on all Crown lands, provincial parks, provincial recreation sites located
north of the provincial forest boundary, along with the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District.

“After this weather system passes and hazards increase, the public is reminded to remain attentive to
preventing new wildfires while enjoying our provincial forests, “SPSA Vice-President of Operations
Steve Roberts said the release.

The public is reminded that provincial parks, municipalities and R.M.s may still have their own local
fire ban, restriction or advisory in place.

Precipitation received overnight friday and expected precipitation forecasted across the northern
provincial forest will bring fire hazards down in that area.

Municipalities and provincial parks should continue to monitor local conditions and implement fire bans
or burning restrictions as required.

Wildfire smoke is causing or expected to cause very poor air quality and reduced visibility.
Air quality and visibility due to wildfire smoke can fluctuate over short distances
and can vary considerably from hour to hour.

The SPSA advised the public to reduce or stop outdoor activities and report
any common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation,chest pains or severe cough
to seek immediate medical assistance.

They should also Protect their indoor air from wildfire smoke,using a clean, good quality
air filter in the ventilation system and a certified portable air purifier that can
filter fine particles.
