PA Community Housing opens new social housing unit.

Daily Herald Contributor The P.A. Community Housing Society Inc. has completed the the construction of 11 Social Housing Units for First Nations and Metis Elders on 20th Street East. The cutting of ribbons and opening ceremony was done on Wednesday. "Today is exciting. (It’s) amazing to work with such great people and to help people, the seniors and women that are leaving violence and (helping) their children. This is an amazing day," said Joanne Moisan, the General Manager P.A. Community Housing Society Incorporated. "Its great to have this in place but I think we are still short of what we need. We need more resources, more help for them." Three of the apartments have already been occupied. Two are vacant but will be occupied by October. "There is a fiveplex being built now by Miller on 19th Avenue and 15th Street and of course the apartments that's going up that we programmed today," Moisan said. "When I took over in April, I had four projects going up at the same time. So I am just learning but I have a great team, that helps. Also great people to work with with MIller and 3 Twenty." The provincial government provided $297, 000 in funding through the Saskatchewan Co-Investment Program(SCP). Prince Albert Northcote MLA, Alana Ross represented the government at the openng ceremony. She said Prince Albert Community Housing is a great partner here in Prince Albert, who do incredible work in supporting vulnerable people and their children who have experienced interpersonal violence. "We are also celebrating the opening of 11 Social Housing Units for the First Nations and Metis Elders here in Prince Albert. And I extend my congratulations on the successful completion of this project,” she said. editorial@paherald.sk.ca
