It was an evening to forget for the Prince Albert Mintos on Friday in Saskatoon as they suffered an 8-1 loss to the host Saskatoon Blazers.

Turner McMillen had the lone goal for the 25-15-1-1 Mintos, who have lost their last two games and were outshot by a 57-28 margin by the Blazers.

The Blazers, who pulled away with a five-goal outburst in the third period, got a goal and two assists from Hunter Mayo in the triumph.

Braxton Buckburger potted a pair of goals, while Daylan Weigel, Kobie Anderson, Nolan Sparks, Parker Lalonde and Logan McCutcheon all had a goal and an assist each.

Brett Mirwald stopped 27 shots for the hosts, who are in third place in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League standings with a 29-9-1-1 record.

Spencer Welke was busy all night for the visitors and made 49 saves.

The Mintos, who will enter the SMAAAHL playoffs as the sixth overall seed, will wrap up their regular season slate this weekend.

They will visit the 20-17-13-1 Swift Current Legionnaires on Saturday before a Sunday afternoon tilt with the 3-36-1-0 Yorkton Maulers.
