Increased police presence on Red Earth as police investigate hit-and-run

The name of a person who was the victim of a hit and run on Red Earth Cree Nation has been released as police are in the community investigating a case from Feb. this week.

Prince Albert General Investigation Section continues to investigate the death of 31-year-old Ericson Bear of Red Earth Cree Nation.  

On Feb. 12 at approximately 4:30 a.m., Carrot River RCMP received a report of an injured male on Highway #163 on Red Earth Cree Nation. Investigation has determined the male was struck by a vehicle, which did not remain at the scene. He died at the scene.  

RCMP are now releasing the name of the victim – 31-year-old Ericson Bear of Red Earth Cree Nation – to help further the investigation.  

As part of their ongoing investigation, police officers with the Prince Albert General Investigation Section will be in the Red Earth Cree Nation community this week.
