Grass fire east of Christopher Lake extinguished after five hours

The Lakeland and District Fire Department has extinguished a grass fire that began roughly 11 km east of Christopher Lake on Sunday.

The 12-man crew was called to the scene at around 1:05 p.m. They discovered a 30-acre fire on arrival, which quickly grew due to high winds.

It took the department five hours to extinguish the blaze. Property damage figures were not reported.
