Residents will enjoy another Christopher Lake Western Day on Aug. 10 beginning 8:00 a.m. at the Gary Anderson Community Centre.
New this year is a Western Day Music Stage running from noon to 3 p.m. Local musician Larry Krause is organizing the music stage and said he’s happy for the opportunity.
“It’s good to be involved with the community,” he said. “The community has been very supportive in a lot of the ventures I have undertaken in the area and this is a good opportunity for me to be able to give back by volunteering for the Western Days.”
Krause will open the Western Days stage at noon, followed by performances by Larry Lennox (12:30), Dave Gesner (1 p.m.), Donna Brooks and Linda Bjorke (1:30 p.m.), Janaya (2 p.m.) and Tara Ann) (2:20 p.m.).
Krause said they created the stage because organizers wanted to add more of a musical element to the festivities, and called him to make it happen.
“I said, sure, what the heck,” Krause said. “I’m a bit of a go-to person for music up here. It’s just a few phone calls to make something happen.”
Krause said the Western Music Stage is one of several musical events running throughout the day. There will also be music at the Anderson Centre starting at noon, and in the beer gardens starting at 11 a.m.
The day beings with a pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and some entertainment. The breakfast is on at the Legion put on by the Lakeland Lions.
There will also be a trade show from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Gary Anderson Community Centre and a quilting show at the Legion Hall from 9:30 a.m. untill 2 p.m.
The kids will be treated to some fun at the Anderson Centre where there will be face painting, petting zoo, kids games, wagon rides and music from noon.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
