Chamber of Commerce to host Prince Albert Police Chief for Sept. 12 lunch series

Prince Albert Chief of Police Patrick Nogier will be the guest speaker with the Chamber of Commerce resumes their 2024 Lunch Speaker Series on Sept. 12.
“We’re quite excited to be able to host Prince Albert Police Chief Patrick Nogier,” Chamber of Commerce CEO Patty Hughes said. “We annually like to have him come and speak to the business Community and talk about some of the challenges that they have faced as an association and in policing, as well as giving us an opportunity for the business community to discuss the concerns that they have.”
The lunch series begins at 11:45 a.m. with registration. Hughes said she expects members to have a lot of questions about homelessness and addictions, and what police can do to help address those issues.
“The chamber put out a survey and the response that we’re getting back from the business community is in regards to the homelessness addiction issues and how are the police planning on addressing those issues,” Hughes explained.
Hughes said it’s important to have a community approach to approach the two issues. She also said they need to have all partners at the table to address those concerns.
“It’s always good for the police chief to have this conversation with the members of the business community, and that’s why we help to facilitate that,” said Hughes.
“The police need to inform the business community of what’s been going, what has been successful, and what the police association does need from the business community because this goes both ways,” Hughes said.
This will be the second chamber Lunch series of 2024. The previous one was held on April 4 with finance minister Donna Harpauer.
A 2022 Point-in-Time (PitT) count found there were 120 homeless residents living in Prince Albert. That’s roughly the same as what was reported in 2021, but well about the 77 homeless individuals counted pre-COVID.
