The Prince Albert Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECIP) in partnership with the PA Family Resource Centre will be hosting the the Art in the Park event between the hours of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 18 at the Gateway Mall.

The event was originally slated to be held in Kinsmen Park, but organizers decided to move it indoors due to concerns about the weather.

“We were all going to go outside, but it’s going to be raining,” said Lauren Helstrip, the ECIP’s executive director. “They (PA Family Recourse Centre) are in the mall, so we’re going to go to their venue.”

“The first time we wanted to do it, it got cancelled because of COVID, but this year, we’re good,” she added.

The event is part of the ECIP Week, which runs from Sept. 15-21. The goal of the week is to make more families aware of what activities and supports the ECIP and Family Resource Centre provide.

“This event is aimed at providing a fun family event for the public in PA and surrounding areas because usually most of our events are only for families registered on our ECIP Program. Some events this week will be just for ECIP families while some will be open to the public to attend. So this is for the public,” Helstrip said.

The 14 ECIP organizations in Saskatchewan and each will be putting up similar activities to shore up the awareness on the program.

“We will have a large garden game for the children to play, a bouncy castle and then they will able to make a piece of art work on canvass with their parents as well as a story stroll,” Helstrip explained.

The event even though opened to families with children ages six and under. It is free and no registration is needed.
