WSA warns against door-to-door water testing kits

The Water Security Agency (WSA) is asking residents to be cautious of private companies leaving water testing kits on people’s doorsteps.

The notice comes as residents from across the province have been receiving kits that include a bottle and instructions for water testing.

“The instructions for taking a water sample are incorrect and the bottle provided does not appear to be sterilized,” the WSA said in a media release.

“Residents should be cautious if they are encouraged to purchase water purification kits at the doorstep.”

The WSA said public confidence in the province’s drinking water systems is a core priority. The agency partners with municipalities across the province to ensure drinking water is safe, in line with national drinking water standards.

“Rigorous and ongoing testing requirements are a condition of WSA’s permits of water systems,” the agency said.
