RCMP looking for stolen trailer vehicle
The Prince Albert RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance solving a theft from May long weekend.
Sometime between May 20 and 22, a business compound located south of the city was broken into. A Kubota utility vehicle was stolen, along with a single-axle utility trailer. The Kubota was used to tow the trailer from the scene. Anyone with information regarding the suspects or the location of the stolen property is asked to contact the Prince Albert RCMP at 306-765-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)
Tisdale teens charged with property crime
During the month of May, Tisdale RCMP received numerous complaints about break-and-enters, mischief, and theft at eight commercial and recreation locations. The total loss of property is estimated at between $20,000 and $50,000.
Following an investigation, two adults and two youth were arrested and charged with multiple counts of break-and-enter, theft and mischief. The four Tisdale residents are facing 61 Criminal Code charges and are due to appear in court over the next few weeks
P.A. police use Taser on teen
The Prince Albert police were busy over the weekend, responding for 393 calls for service and arresting 71people. The most common calls were for intocxication (54 people) and disturbances (52 calls). One of their calls resulted in the arrest of four teens and a twenty-year-old.
At about 8:30 Sunday morning, police received a call about a stolen vehicle taken sometime overnight.
The vehicle was spotted at about 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon, at 15th Street and Fourth Avenue West, travelling south. Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, activating lights and sirens. The driver refused to stop.
Police did not chase the vehicle, due to high speeds, and concerns for public safety.
A short time later, they found the vehicle in the 600 Block of 28 Street West with a flat back tire. All five vehicle occupants fled on foot.
Three females and one male were located and arrested without incident.
The fifth occupant, a 16-year-old male, was found hiding behind a fence. He refused to obey verbal commands by police.
According to a media release, “due to officer safety concerns, a conductive energy device (commonly known as a Taser) was deployed. The youth was then taken into custody. Police searched the stolen vehicle and found an axe on the floor by the front passenger seat.
The quintet faces a variety of charges:
A 20 year-old Prince Albert man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evading police, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, possession of stolen property and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
A 16-year-old male from P.A. has been charged with possession of stolen propertu. Possession of aweapon dangerous to the public and resisting arrest
A 15-year-old P.A. female has been charged with possession of stolen property, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and obstructing a peace officer
A 16-year-old female from Sturgeon Lake and a 14-year-old from P.A. have been charged with possession of stolen property and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. All five were due in court Monday.
Shotgun and shells seized
A Monday morning traffic stop netted a wanted suspect and a sawed-off shotgun with shells.
Shortly after 2 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on the 300 Block of River Street East. While talking with the vehicle occupants, the officer recognized one of the passengers as having outstanding warrants.
While arresting that passenger for outstanding warrants, the officer observed a green bat, dumbell wrapped in tape and a mark with goggles on the floor. Backup was called tand the vehicle searched.
Another male passenger was found in possession of a concealed sawed-off shotgun, a backpack on his lap and a concealed drawstring backpack contgaining .22 shotgun shells. The large backpack had a bo of .22 shotgun shells and another mask. The man also had shotgun shells in his pocked and a leg strap containing more shotgun shells.
A 24-year-old Prince ALbet man is charged with two counts of possessing a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public peace and a breach of probation.
A 33-year-old man, also from Prince ALber, is facing seven firearms offenses.
