The Nipawin Hawk, Melfort Mustangs and La Ronge Ice Wolves all returned from their lengthy break with the teams matched up last weekend.
The Hawks have dropped into second place after being in first place for much of the start of the regular season.
As of Nov. 17 the Hawks are in second place with a record of 11-6-1-0 with 23 points, two points behind the Flin Flon Bombers. The Mustangs are in third place with a record of 8-7-0-2 with 18 points and the Ice Wolves are in fourth place with a record of 4-10-2-1 with 11 points.
The Hawks opened their week with a 3-0 win over the Mustangs in Nipawin on Friday, Nov.14.
Gage Roberts stopped all 28 shots he faced to record the shutout for Nipawin.
The Hawks led 1-0 after the first period and 2-0 after the second period.
Will Whitter, Brendan Olson and Carter Anderson scored for the Hawks.
Madden Mulawka made 19 saves for the Mustangs.
Nipawin closed their week with a 4-1 loss to the Battlefords North Stars in Nipawin on Saturday, Nov. 15.
The North Stars led 2-0 after the first period and second period.
Whitter scored the lone Hawks’ goal.
Gavin Granger, Alessio Nardelli, Josh Knittig and Finlay Klippenstein responded for the North Stars.
Colten Scott made 32 saves for the Hawks; Kaeden Serpa made 43 saves for the North Stars.
The Hawks were in Melville to face the Millionaires on Tuesday, Nov. 18, results were not available.
The Mustangs continued their games against UPL opponents with an 8-1 win over the Ice Wolves in Melfort on Saturday, Nov. 15.
The game was tied 1-1 after the first period and the Mustangs led 4-1 after the second period.
Bo Eisner and Reis Nyland each had a pair of goals for the Mustangs; Bryson Aikens, Logan Peskett, Austin Shepherd and Danton Cox added the other Melfort goals.
Justin Berezniuk scored the lone Ice Wolves’ goal.
Kason Kabelka made 16 saves for the Mustangs, he was replaced by Mulawka for 24 seconds in the third period and Mulawka faced no shots.
Graham Brown made 31 saves for La Ronge.
The Ice Wolves were in Weyburn to face the Red Wings on Tuesday, Nov. 18 and in Estevan to face the Bruins on Wednesday, Nov. 19, results were not available for either game.
The Ice Wolves are in Estevan to face the Bruins again on Friday, Nov. 21 and in Weyburn to face the Red Wings again on Saturday, Nov. 22.
The Hawks are in Warman to play the Wolverines on Saturday, Nov. 22
Melfort is in Flin Flon to face the Bombers on Friday, Nov. 21 and the Bombers are in Melfort to face the Mustangs on Saturday, Nov. 22.
