Two COVID-19 deaths reported Wednesday

No new deaths have been reported.

A North Central Zone resident in their 70s is among the COVID-19 deaths reported by the province Thursday.

Saskatchewan saw two new deaths, 183 cases and 238 recoveries reported Wednesday, to go along with an additional 6,737 doses of vaccine.

The other reported death was a Central East resident, also in their 70s.

The province has 2,016 active cases of COVID-19, and a seven-day new case average of 203, or 16.6 per 100,000 population.

North Central accounted for seven of the new cases reported Wednesday, with five added to Prince Albert. The City now has 78 active cases of COVID-19.

There were 3,048 COVID-19 tests processed Tuesday.

There are 163 people with COVID-19 in the hospital, of which 37 are in the ICU. North Central has three COVID-19 inpatients and one in the ICU.

Vaccination rates continue to trickle upwards North Central residents received 477 doses of vaccine Tuesday. In all, 72 per cent of residents over the age of 40 have received their first dose. Vaccine rates exceed 80 per cent in each of the 80-plus, 70-79 and 60-69 age groups. Vaccine rates fall to 67 per cent of residents aged 50-59, 56 per cent of residents in their 40s and 30 per cent of people in their 30s.

Vaccine eligibility was dropped to 26 plus Wednesday. That applies to all clinics, whether booked through SHA, drive-thru/walk-ins, pharmacies and mobile clinics.

As of May 19, people who test negative for COVID-19 can receive their results through an automated text messaging system. Starting Friday, the SHA will collect data through the online requisition form at drive-thru and other testing sites.

Anyone who tests positive will still receive a call from public health to provide them with next steps and begin contact tracing.

Negative test results can be texted to you if you give permission at the time of your test. The messages will be identified as originating from the Saskatchewan Health Authority and will as you to verify if you are the correct recipient. You will not be asked for any personal information via text message.
