First Annual Youth Conference

Piwapan Wellness Centre is planning a half-day Youth Conference, March 13, followed by supper and a Youth Celebration in the evening at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre (JRMCC), Karen Sanderson, Executive Director of Piwapan, said in an interview with the Northern Advocate.

Piwapan hosts annual events to honour women and men, so that prompted them to add the Youth Conference.

Ballet comes to La Ronge

The Ballet Jörgen, of Toronto will be in La Ronge performing the complete Sleeping Beauty at Churchill Community High School’s (CCHS) theatre on Tuesday, March 4.

Cree Language Festival

Hall Lake (Morin’s Hill Reserve) will host a Cree Language Festival on Thursday, March 13 at Sally Ross School. There are two categories for participants -singing and oratory.

Boots McCallum will also be on hand to entertain for the event, which begins at 10 a.m. and continues to 3 p.m.

Winter Fair opens Feb. 28

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) will host they’re annual Winter Fair beginning Feb. 28 and continuing with daily events until Sunday, March 9.

Daily events will be held at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre (JRMCC), inside and out; along with some events at kiskinwuhumatowin Urban Reserve in La Ronge.

Arts Council concert

The La Ronge Arts Council offers the last of their season’s concerts on Tuesday, March 25 at Churchill Community High School (CCHS). Every Brilliant Thing, a one-woman program and a comedy.

Alex Robertson Public Library celebrating 65 years

Plans are underway to celebrate the library and it’s 65 years in service for the community in April. Watch for more info.
