Fire Ban
The Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB), Northern Village of Air Ronge, Town of La Ronge and Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) announced a Fire and Fireworks Ban effective July 7, 2025
The La Ronge Regional Fire Department is. Implementing the ban, which involves all open fires and fireworks.
“Traditional smokers, propane barbeques, propane-fueled fire pits and briquettes are allowed,” reads the news release.
The ban begins immediately and will be in effect until “sufficient Precipitation.”
Violators will face possible fining.
Elks Fair coming soon
The La Ronge Elks Club announced they will host the annual Elks Fair July 18, 19 and 20 at the Fairgrounds.
For safety reasons there will be some changes, such as: “security personnel will be present on the grounds, conducting searches of all bags and utilizing metal detectors,” quoted from their announcement.
They are asking people to carry their belongings in a “clear bag, allowing for efficient searching.”
They also are not allowing anyone to bring in open containers containing liquids into the fair.
“Sealed water bottles, pop and other similar items are acceptable … and “take advantage of the water bottle filling station located at the Elks Food booth.”
More information about the Fair will be forthcoming soon, as communication was interrupted by the evacuation.

Woodland Cree Gathering = Amachewespimawin
The annual Woodland Cree Gathering, bringing members of Montreal Lake Cree Nation (MLCN), Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation (PBCN) and the Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) together, will be held July 15, 16 and 17 in Stanley Mission.
Events will be held throughout the three days at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church site with camping and meals and boat transportation to the grounds available.
Pimiskatan-La Ronge Canoe Club

Family Wellness
The Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) hosted a three-day Family Wellness Conference July 8, 9 and 10 focusing on mental health and wellness. The Northern Advocate will care more about the event in the August edition, as it came just at press time for the newspaper.
