The Santa Parade returned to La Ronge after a long hiatus

Many community organizations joined the La Ronge Regional Fire Department in bring the annual Santa Claus Parade back to the Lac La Ronge area on Saturday, Dec. 21.

While the darkness ascended a colourful parade made its way from the Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) Band Office through the Town of La Ronge downtown and on to the Mel Hegland for the annual Community Christmas Party.

The evening events included a Family Skate, sleigh rides, bonfires, the makings for smores, hot dogs, hot chocolate, Christmas music and treats.

As they came in from the cold entering the Mel Hegland Arena, folks were greeted by Santa and given a welcome cup of hot chocolate. Candy bags and an array of colourful cookies awaited.

People then proceeded into the Curling Lounge where hot dogs and coffee awaited them and a warm place to sit.

The Grinch awaited to greet the participants along with a several tables adorned with the fixings for S’mores.

Some people ventured outside to cook marshmallows and smores over the open fire and to take a sleigh ride, while others remained in the warmth, visiting.

The Lutheran Church Choir were on hand to sing a number of familiar Christmas Carols to add to the festivities.
