Search and rescue crews and underwater recovery teams spent Tuesday searching rivers in the Battlefords area as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Ashley Morin.

Morin was 31-years-old when she was last seen in North Battleford in mid-July 2018. She was last in contact with her family on July 10, 2018.

On Monday, officers with the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Underwater Recovery Team, Historical Case Unit, Battlefords RCMP Detachment, and Saskatchewan RCMP Search and Rescue began a week-long search of the area. In a press release, the Saskatchewan RCMP said Investigators believe Morin was the victim of a homicide.

“Since Ashley disappeared nearly seven years ago, investigators have continuously followed up on numerous leads,” said Supt. Josh Graham, the officer in charge of Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Branch.

“Searching the river is another step in our investigation to find out what happened to Ashley and hold the person, or persons, who took Ashley away from her family accountable.”

Graham said investigators are still asking for information about Morin’s disappearance. Information can be reported by calling 310-RCMP, or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. He said even the smallest detail can make a difference.

“The Battleford area is a small, close-knit community,” Graham said in a press release. “We know that some people have information about Ashley’s disappearance, and we want to encourage them to report it to police.

“Progress in this inquiry would not be possible without the input of community members,” he added. “What you know may help us answer questions from Ashley’s family and friends.”
