Feedback for the division’s next Strategic Plan will be one of the focuses when trustees from the Prince Albert Catholic School Division make their School Community Council (SCC) reports for February and March.
Director of Education Lorel Trumier outlined the highlights for the board during their regular meeting at St. John Community School.
“We are going to engage in Strategic Planning feedback with our parent group and our stakeholder group, our students,” Trumier said. “That’s the next stage that we’re at. We’re identifying that as one of the areas of focus.”
The division will circulate the draft plan and feedback opportunity in its schools to ensure that all families can provide feedback.
The next Strategic Plan runs from 2026-2030 and focuses on five key areas. These include strengthening the faith dimension in the division, improving the overall academic program, building mental health and well-being capacity and inspiring success for all students including Indigenous students, while responding meaningfully to the Callsto Truth and Reconciliation.
Division focuses on Playground Equipment Grant
In the October and November reports, the division highlighted that the province announced in September that applications for the new School Playground Equipment Grant program are now open. This program will support the creation of safe, accessible playgrounds on school operated property throughout Saskatchewan.
Eligible projects can receive up to $50,000 in matching funds to build a new playground. Funds can also be used to add new equipment or replace components on an existing playground.
Since then, each Elementary School in the division has been successful.
“All of our six elementary students schools have received playground grants,” Trumier said. “Obviously, the school and SCCs have been working to make those application grants available and we were successful at all six.”
As well, Ecole St. Mary is hosting their annual pair of open houses in March, which the division will be highlighting.
“Then we also have Open House at St. Mary High School and registration procedures that are starting again,” Trumier said.
