Stories of the North is a television series, set in a northern cabin, where a grandfather, played by Dr. Morris Cook, of La Ronge, teaches his granddaughters, played by Claire Walker and Mya Hoskins Fiddler, their heritage, culture and particularly, Cree language.
The root of the series is about Cree language preservation and retention. The second season “will touch on traditions such as the importance of ceremony and stories such as the Thunderbird and the Little People. All story writers and cast are Indigenous, creating authenticity and accountability in Indigenous storytelling,” Quoted from a Campfire Stories news release dated June 14.
Kyle Burgess and Campfire Stories, the company he runs with his wife, Allia Janzen, are the initiators and producers of the series.
