Any hopes of a balmy winter will be dashed heading into next week.
In a pair of advisories issued through Twitter Monday, Environment and Climate Change Canada called for a dump of snow followed by frigid temperatures for Saskatchewan over the next week and a half.
The snow is predicted to hit first.
According to the Twitter post, a low-pressure system moving through southern Saskatchewan is expected to bring snow and wind Wednesday.
An estimated 10-20 cm of snow is expected to fall in Prince Albert and Saskatoon in a swath moving southeast toward Brandon, Man.
That will come along with gusts of wind ranging from 50-60 km/h.
The weather threat is listed as “moderate.”
Once the city has dug out, it will need to bundle up.
Forecast highs for next Monday, Jan. 13, sit at around the -32 C mark.
Extreme cold warnings could be issued.
That happens when the wind chill temperature hits -40 C in southern Saskatchewan or -45 C in the northern half of the province.
