The Prince Albert Sharks Swim Club made waves at the Goldfins Swim Meet held from January 31st to February 2nd, 2025, in Saskatoon. With outstanding performances across all age groups, the Sharks demonstrated their strength, determination, and skill, achieving multiple top finishes and personal bests.

Ali D. Sets Two New Canadian Para Swimming Records!

The standout performance of the meet came from Ali D., known as the “Diamond Fish.” Competing in the SB9 para classification, Ali shattered two Canadian Para Swimming Records in the 50-meter breaststroke and 200-meter breaststroke, a remarkable achievement that highlights her exceptional talent. She also delivered personal bests in all her events, proving herself as one of Canada’s rising para-swimming stars.

Top Performers from the Prince Albert Sharks

Several Sharks swimmers made their mark with outstanding finishes:

Clara C. – Third place in 400-meter freestyle, 800-meter freestyle, and 100-meter backstroke.

Zoe C. – First place in 100-meter butterfly, second in 100-meter backstroke and 200-meter butterfly, and third in 800-meter freestyle and 50-meter backstroke.

Sophia W. – Second place in 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke.

Jaxen S. – Third place in 50-meter freestyle and fourth in 100-meter breaststroke, achieving “AA” times in 50-meter backstroke and 100-meter breaststroke.

Anastasia S. – Achieved her first-ever “AA” time in the 50-meter backstroke, qualifying for the ManSask Provincial Championship.

Myla M. – Second place in 1500-meter freestyle.

Jamie C. – Second place in 400-meter individual medley.

Maia L. – Achieved personal bests in 200-meter backstroke, 50-meter freestyle, and 50-meter backstroke.

Ethan E., Mikaela A., Rowan A., and Brooklyn D. – Qualified for finals in multiple events, showing great consistency and improvement.

Bella K. and Jackson M. – Achieved personal bests in all of their events.

Masters Swimmers Excel

The Sharks’ Masters swimmers also delivered dominant performances:

Natasha N. – First place in 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle and 100-meter individual medley.

Hillary W. – Second place in 50-meter breaststroke and third in 100-meter backstroke and 100-meter freestyle.

Junior Sharks Show Promise

The next generation of Sharks swimmers also had an incredible meet, with many achieving their best performances to date:

Ethan B. – First place in 100-meter breaststroke and third in 50-meter breaststroke.

Savannah B. – Second place in 200-meter backstroke and fifth in 200-meter freestyle.

Jose C. – Third place in 50-meter breaststroke.

Colton C. – Sixth place in 100-meter freestyle.

Cohen G. – Fifth place in 50-meter breaststroke.

Emsley H. – First place in 100-meter breaststroke, achieving her first-ever “A” time and qualifying for the Junior Provincial Swimming Championship.

Magdalena L. – Sixth place in 50-meter and 100-meter breaststroke.

Natalie L. – Third place in 50-meter breaststroke.

Nadia M. and Lennox – Achieved new personal bests in 100-meter freestyle.

The Goldfins Swim Meet proved to be an exceptional event for the Prince Albert Sharks, showcasing the depth of talent within the club. The swimmers’ dedication and hard work were evident in their outstanding results, with record-breaking performances, provincial qualifications, and countless personal bests.
