The Witch Experience is set to return to the Nordale Community Hall on Oct. 9 and Oct. 10.
The Witch Experience is a psychic, holistic, and magical market held across cities in Saskatchewan, including Saskatoon, North Battleford, and Prince Albert. The event will feature vendors, workshops, and psychics and mediums offering one-on-one 20 to 30 minute sessions to provide a “place for people who follow earth-based practices to find resources, items, and talk to people,” said organizer Marie Aline.
“We are offering workshops this year, which is different,” she said.
The workshops set to be held include a crystal elixir masterclass, a protective amulet seminar, and a group mediumship session.
“We’ve been doing workshops in other cities for quite a few years, and the workshops are such a wonderful way for people to just come out and it’s relatively an inexpensive activity to do and you can talk and ask questions and learn, meet other people who are maybe interested in some of the same things,” Aline said.
The event has garnered a following of supporters, returning year after year.
“The first show, there were over 750 people that attended in PA, and that’s kind of a big deal. At least I found, I grew up in the Prince Albert area and so PA is just kind of that home city for me,” she said. “The response from PA, honestly, has been so much better than the bigger cities for sure.”
Aline added that despite the positive feedback, she has noticed an “upswing of negative backlash.”
“Why I started The Witch Experience was because, five years ago, when this was in my planning, it was just to debunk the word ‘witch’,” Aline explained. “I think people would be really surprised because of the way that when you hear the word ‘witch’ and ‘witchcraft’, it’s looked at as demonic or Satanist, or very dark. But it’s not, it’s really just about honouring the land and the people and the elements and the sky.”
Despite the backlash, she continues to stay motivated as she believes that everyone has their own spiritual journey.
“There is a personal journey, and it’s an exploration that should be sought from within with credible and reliable sources,” she said. “I think that when people come out, they can see what our intentions are. I make sure that its people are respecting people’s spiritual journeys.”
