A 26-year-old man from Regina faces multiple charges following an Saskatchewan RCMP Serious Crimes Unit (SCU) investigation into an online harassment complaint.
The Prince Albert RCMP received a report of harassment on a social media platform on Jan. 14. The SCU took over the investigation and on Feb. 10, RCMP officers arrested Davis Keepness, 26, from Key First Nation.
Keenness is charged with failing to comply with a probation order, criminal harassment, and committing an indecent act. He is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Feb. 17.
The Serious Crimes Unit, formerly known as the Provincial General Investigation Section (GIS), is part of the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes Branch.
The Serious Crimes Unit takes carriage of some of the most serious and complex investigations in RCMP jurisdiction, which can include serious assaults and attempted murders, officer-involved shootings (in conjunction with Saskatchewan’s Serious Incident Response Team), kidnappings (including Amber Alert investigations), child abuse and exploitation, significant fraud and financial crimes, serious weapons offences, and sometimes homicides (on behalf of or in collaboration with the Saskatchewan RCMP Homicide Investigation Unit), among others.
