Moody’s Investors Service confirmed Saskatchewan’s AAA credit rating on Tuesday, their highest available for Canadian provinces.

According to Finance Minister Donna Harpauer, it’s “a further demonstration that the government’s fiscal plan is on track.”

“We’re heading in the right direction, reducing our deficit through careful management of our spending, keeping our economy strong and investing in priorities for Saskatchewan people. We’re focused on returning the budget to balance by 2019-20,” she said in a news release.

Moody’s is based out of New York City and provides international research on bonds issued by governments.

British Columbia is the only other province with an AAA credit rating from Moody’s.

When also considering ratings from Standard and Poor’s and Dominion Bond Rating Services, Saskatchewan is second only to B.C. for credit.
