Santa is getting ready to come to town.

The jolly old fellow announced Friday that he will be making his way to Prince Albert on November 24 – one month before Christmas.

With the exciting news, Main Street Events, the Prince Albert Downtown Business Improvement District and the Gateway Mall banded together to make sure Mr. Claus’s visit is honoured with a parade, set to get going at 10:30 a.m. next Saturday at the Prince Albert Historical Museum and travel up Central Avenue to the Gateway Mall.

This is the third consecutive year Santa will be welcomed to town with a parade, a tradition that had fallen by the wayside until the Gateway Mall revived it in 2016.

Other downtown venues are also doing their part to welcome the start of the pre-Christmas season.

The Historical Museum will be open for hot chocolate from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m with free admission and a display of Christmas gifts of the past. Following the parade, the Arts Centre will offer family craft time to celebrate in the present, and Santa will exit his sleigh and welcome children inside the Gateway Mall to take pictures and talk about Christmas gifts yet to come.
