Sandy Bay RCMP arrest male wanted on multiple warrants

A 25-year-old man from Sandy Bay faces multiple charges following an investigation into a series of thefts and break-ins that occurred from Feb. 16-21.
Sandy Bay RCMP received reports of two thefts and a robbery at a business in the community, as well as a break-in at a community facility.
As a result of investigation into these incidents, 25-year-old Edwin Ballantyne from Sandy Bay has been charged with robbery with weapon, theft under $5,000, wear a disguise with intent to commit an offence, uttering threats, break and enter with intent and theft from mail under $5,000.
Multiple warrants were issued for Ballantyne’s arrest. On Feb. 23, investigators determined Ballantyne was in a residence in Sandy Bay. Officers located him hiding in the residence and arrested him without incident.
He was also arrested on a number of arrest warrants, including for assault and failing to comply with probation, related to incidents reported to Sandy Bay RCMP in 2025.
Edwin Ballatyne has been remanded into custody until his next scheduled appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Feb. 25.
