The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be back in Saskatoon for training camp in 2025 and beyond.
On Tuesday, the Canadian Football League club announced a new three-year agreement with the University of Saskatchewan to continue to hold training camp on the school’s campus through 2027.
“For years, the university community and the Huskies football team have provided us with exceptional support, ensuring we have everything we need to have a successful camp,” Roughriders general manager Jeremy O’Day said in a release. “Training camp is a foundational part of the football season, and we couldn’t be happier to be returning to Saskatoon where year after year our fans welcome us back with open arms.”
The Roughriders first held training camp at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon in 1972 before returning again from 1982-89, 1990-92, 1995, 1997-99 and 2000-02.
After nearly a decade of holding camp in Regina following the 2002 season, the Green and White signed another agreement with USask that saw the Roughriders return to the Bridge City in 2013, where they remained through 2019.
Following the cancelled 2020 season, the Riders held a shortened camp in Regina in 2021 before returning to Saskatoon for the last three seasons.
“We are always pleased to welcome the Saskatchewan Roughriders to our campus for their training camp,” USask associate vice-president of campus operations Wade Epp said in a release. “From staying with us and eating with us to showcasing and honing their skills on our fields, the Riders become part of our campus community every year. Watching the team practice has become a tradition for our surrounding community, and we are privileged to showcase everything our university has to offer.”
Training camp opens on May 7 when rookies take to the field for rookie camp before main training camp opens on May 11. The team will be in Saskatoon for two weeks before heading to Winnipeg on May 24 to take on the Blue Bombers in pre-season action.
The Roughriders will then return to Regina’s Mosaic Stadium for the final week of camp before hosting the Bombers in a final pre-season tune-up on May 30.
Saskatchewan will then open the 2025 CFL season on June 5 at home against the Ottawa Redblacks.
