Recent police calls include drug possession, stabbing, and home invasion

The Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) responded to a variety of calls between Tuesday and Thursday.

Stolen vehicle

Just after 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, officers came across a stolen vehicle on the 800 block of 12th Street West.

They seized a stab-proof vest and a sawed off shotgun they found in the trunk.

Drug possession

On early Wednesday morning, police arrested an 18-year-old man on several charges.

While investigating a complaint of a robbery on the 400 block of River Street West, they questioned a man on a bike.

He initially fled from police, but they arrested him shortly after on outstanding warrants. He also possessed various controlled substances including methamphetamine, cocaine, and marihuana, along with a firearm and ammunition.

Gunshots

At about 4 a.m. on Wednesday, PAPS responded to a complaint of hearing gunshots overnight on the 900 block of 2nd Street East.

Officers seized evidence with the assistance of Police Service Dog (PSD) Febee.

No arrests have been made and no one was injured, although police are continuing to investigate.

Aggravated assault

Police responded to a complaint of a stabbing around 4:14 p.m. on Wednesday on the 1400 block of Central Avenue, which is near Venice House.

A 29-year-old man was taken to hospital with “undetermined injuries.”

Police are still investigating, but said they believe the suspect and victim know each other.

Traffic stop leads to drug seizure

A 26-year-old woman was in court Thursday morning for possessing drugs.

Patrol stopped a vehicle on the 400 block of 15th Street West, near My Pharmacy, just before 1 a.m. that day.

She was arrested on outstanding warrants and ticketed for violations under the Traffic Safety Act.

After further investigation, officers found 9.9 grams of methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia.

The accused is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Home invasion

Police responded to a complaint of a home invasion just before 2 a.m. on Thursday.

Residents of a home on the 100 block of 21st West said multiple people entered their house with firearms, taking a TV and a cellphone.

PAPS have issued an arrest warrant for a woman in connection to the incident.

Officers are still investigating.
