The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes unit has asked residents who live to visit the Hatchet Lake Denesuline First Nation to check their home security or dash cameras following the death of a 24-year-old man on March 25.
Wollaston Lake RCMP were called to Hatchet Lake at around 12:10 p.m. following reports that someone had been seriously injured near a residence. They arrived to find the body of 24-year-old Gaten Josie ‘Joseyounen’. His family has been notified.
The RCMP consider the death to be suspicious. Anyone who was on the First Nation between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on March 25 is asked to check security cameras for suspicious activity. The RCMP have asked residents to forward any images or videos of suspicious activity immediately.
