RCMP investigating homemade tire deflation devices found on Nipawin streets

Nipawin RCMP / Submitted Nipawin RCMP are investigating after finding five of these homemade tire deflation devices on streets around the community.

The Nipawin RCMP have started an investigation after several homemade tire deflation devices found on Nipawin’s streets.
On Mar. 1, at around 10:30 a.m., Nipawin RCMP received reports that residents found homemade tire deflation devices on multiple streets in Nipawin and at the entrance to the Nipawin RCMP Detachment parking lot.
Nipawin RCMP officers immediately patrolled the streets of Nipawin and the areas around other emergency services buildings in the community. They did not find additional homemade tire deflation devices.
Nipawin RCMP officers confirm a total of five homemade tire deflation devices were found at the corner of First Avenue East and Second Street East, at the corner of Railway Avenue and First Avenue West and in the entrance to the parking lot of the Nipawin RCMP Detachment located at 119 Nipawin Road East.
Tire deflation devices are designed to pierce and deflate tires when vehicles drive over them. No vehicle damage was reported to police.
The homemade tire deflation devices are made of black drywall screws put through white electrical cord.
The Nipawin RCMP ask anyone with information, or anyone who witnessed suspicious activity at the above locations on March 1 between 2:00 a.m. and 8 a.m., to please call the RCMP. Information can also be reported anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
The RCMP continue to investigate.
