Saskatchewan conservation officers and the Nipawin RCMP made two arrests and seized a semi-automatic rifle, a flashlight taser, roughly 200 grams and methamphetamine, and 54 grams of cocaine following a traffic stop on a grid road west of Nipawin.
Officers also seized a sum of cash and additional drug paraphernalia.
Officers were called to the scene at around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27 after receiving a call for assistance from Saskatchewan conservation officers with Provincial Protective Services.
Upon arrival, the RCMP found the conservation officers had stopped a man and woman with “a significant quantity of illicit drugs and weapons” according to an RCMP press release.
Tyler Sheridan, 35, of Nipawin and Maureen Head, 30, of Melfort have both been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes. They will make their next court appearance in Melfort on Sept. 4.
Sheridan has also been charged with one count of possessing a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, and two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a court order.
Nipawin RCMP continue to investigate.
