Two Prince Albert Raiders will be making their professional debuts this hockey season.
Goalie Ian Scott and centreman Jordy Stallard each signed amateur tryout agreements (ATO) with their respective American Hockey League teams.
Scott, a draftee of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs, signed an ATO with the Leaf’s AHL affiliate club, the Toronto Marlies.
He’ll join the club for the remainder of its season, which will also include the playoffs – the Marlies have qualified for this year’s AHL postseason as champions of the league’s North Division.
The currently hold a 51-18-2-2 record. The Marlies have three regular season games beginning, starting on April 13, before the playoffs start.
Scott played in 50 games for the Raiders this past season, the second straight year he’s done that. He set new career highs in wins (24), goals-against average (3.10), and save percentage (0.897) this year.
For the Raiders’ Western Hockey League postseason run, Scott played every game against the Moose Jaw Warriors. He finished with a 3-2-2 record to go along with a 3.25 goals-against average and a 0.897 save percentage.
Meanwhile, Stallard has signed an ATO with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose; the Brandon, Man., native is a draftee of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets, and the Moose are the Jet’s affiliate club.
“It’s pretty cool,” said Stallard in an interview posted to the Manitoba Moose’s YouTube channel. “I’m just trying to soak it all in and learn from every guy possible.”
Stallard led the Raiders this year with 44 goals and 91 points, playing in all 72 regular season games; he also played in all seven playoff games against the Warriors, tallying three goals and five assists.
The 2017-18 season was Stallard’s last in the WHL. He played in 267 career regular season and postseason games with the Raiders and Calgary Hitmen.
He scored 93 total goals to go along with 128 assists.
Stallard will also likely see postseason action with the Moose (40-25-4-4): The team sits in second place in the AHL’s Central Division, and it has clinched a playoff spot.
The team has three regular season games remaining before playoffs start.
