Team looking to build on recent success
The Prince Albert Raiders are taking their recent success on the road as they prepare to take on one of the league’s toughest opponents.
The Raiders were riding the bus Tuesday afternoon as they headed to the first stop of their three-game road trip. Tonight they will take on the Central Division-leading Medicine Hat Tigers in Medicine Hat, where the home side boasts an 18-7-1 record. The Tigers are 7-3 in their last ten games, and are among the top goal scorers in the league.
The Raiders have lost both their previous matchups with Medicine Hat this season, both games taking place within a four-day stretch in November.
While the game looks like a mismatch on paper, the Raiders have been playing strong as of late, with a 5-4-1 record over the last 10 games, and they’ve been close in the matches they’ve lost.
Prince Albert head coach Mark Habschied said after a flurry of trades in the late part of 2016 and first weeks of 2017, the new-look Raiders are finally coming together.
“Continuity always helps for sure,” Habschied said.
“We’ve had the same guys now for a month since the deadline. We were a team in transition, but now we’ve got the same players.”
Another key to the recent success has been the strong work ethic demonstrated by the players.
