Zenik Rabiej has entered the race for trustee on the board of education in the Prince Albert Catholic School Division. He is entering the race because he wants to improve a board of education he thinks is already doing a great job.

“I think I have a lot to offer I am retired now and I think we need some maybe new people on the school board,” Rabiej said.

Rabiej was born and raised in the Prince Albert area and has lived and worked in Prince Albert for most of his adult life.

He explained that he looks forward to working with the board, teachers and students to promote Catholic education.

“It is a good system a lot of people are taking advantage of it and I would work towards making a good system even better,” Rabiej said.

He is involved with St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, is  a member of the Knights of Columbus and has been an executive with the St. George’s Council currently serving as the Grand Knight.

“I believe that Catholic-based education is quite vital to our young people today, educated with Catholic values like the separate school board does,” he explained.

Rabiej explained that he believes the Catholic system has a better structure with more discipline and believes strongly in faith-based education.

“I believe that they grow up to be better all around adults, more productive adults later in life when they finish their education and move on with their living,” Rabiej said.

The election for trustee in the Prince Albert Catholic School Division is Nov. 9.
