Prince Albert police and Saskatchewan RCMP are searching for stolen police equipment after an officer’s hotel room was broken into early Wednesday.
RCMP said the officer discovered the theft shortly after midnight on Sept. 2 at a hotel on 38th Street West.
Police said three men and one woman entered the locked room and stole an RCMP service pistol, magazines, a baton, pepper spray, a grey RCMP shirt and other personal belongings.
A conducted energy device, duty jacket, vest, body-worn camera and radio were also taken, but were later recovered during a ground search near the hotel.
One adult man was arrested later Wednesday morning. Police are still working to identify and arrest the other suspects and recover the remaining equipment.
RCMP said the stolen pistol and other equipment had been stored in a locked box.
Police are also warning the public about the possibility of someone using stolen police clothing or equipment. Anyone unsure whether they are dealing with a police officer can ask to see a badge and identification card. Police said the regimental numbers should match and the identification card should include the officer’s photograph.
