Police lay charges after FedEx van stolen

An 18-year-old man from Prince Albert has been charged following a police chase of a stolen FedEx vehicle on Tuesday morning.

According to a news release, the man allegedly stole the van around 10:45 a.m. while the delivery driver was unloading it on the 1400 block of Central Avenue, which is near Venice House.

The van was going at “reckless high speeds” towards Hazeldell and then went back through Prince Albert, eventually travelling on Highway 11 towards Saskatoon.

The chase involving both Prince Albert police and RCMP ended with the van in a ditch along the highway between Hague and Neuanlage.

The suspect is charged with two counts of assaulting an officer with intent to resist or prevent arrest, another charge of assault, operating a motor vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public, committing theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of operating a motor vehicle while attempting to evade a peace officer and three breaches of prior sentence orders – to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not possess ammunition.

He appeared in court on Wednesday.
