Two male suspects, including a youth, have been arrested after a hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian.
Early Monday morning, just before 2 a.m. patrol officers responded to a parking lot in the 600 Block o Marquis Road East. Officers were told a female pedestrian had been injured and a black truck had fled the area.
About 10 minutes later, officers saw a black truck speeding in the 1400 Block of 15th Street West, heading west.
The police attempted a traffic stop, but the truck’s driver did not comply.
Moments later, the truck collided with a commercial building in the 1600 Block of Sixth Avenue West and the occupants fled on foot.
With help from the canine team, including Police Service Dog Febee, the two men were arrested.
Parkland Ambulance transported the 30-year-old female victim to the hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The two male suspects were also transported to the hospital.
No charges have been laid yet and police continue to investigate.
The truck had been reported stolen.
That call was one of 292 the police handled over the weekend, making a total of 63 arrests. The top call for service was for intoxicated people.
Two men were charged with unrelated weapons offences Saturday. In both cases, the suspects, a 40-year-old and a 31-year-old were found with weapons and taken into custody by patrol officers.
Both were due for a first court appearance on April 29.
